THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

Nothing is more important to the staff at Maris Grove and all Erickson communities than the health and wellness of its residents. Chances are you’ve heard about Erickson HealthSM and its incredible network of resources. One amenity that’s vital to our residents’ well-being and works in tandem with Erickson HealthSM is our onsite pharmacy.

People moving to Maris Grove can have peace of mind knowing that NeighborCare has been chosen as the community’s pharmacy provider. Since Erickson takes great care in choosing every staff member, they take even greater care in choosing the right health and wellness providers.

Steven Rovner, Maris Grove’s associate executive director, is as excited as anyone over the selection. “The team at Maris Grove is looking forward to partnering with NeighborCare,” he says. “They are a quality provider and will be offering the best possible service to our residents. We’re very pleased and our Pioneers will be as well.”

Stanton Ades, senior vice president of NeighborCare, puts it this way: “I think the reason Maris Grove chose us is because we provide a very high level of personal service. We’re not as big as Walgreens or CVS; our pharmacy will be on-site in the clubhouse and be an integral part of the community. Best of all, it’ll be conveniently located just down the hall from the Medical Center (and your new home!).”

“Plus, we’ll develop a very close relationship with the medical staff,” continues Ades. “We design our pharmacy to be close to the Medical Center, so we have access and so do they. It won’t be uncommon to see Maris Grove physicians walking into the pharmacy all hours of the day. Together we’ll be able to make sure residents are getting the best care, and we’ll be there to answer all their questions about medication.”

Personal Service, the Way You Remember

It may seem that house calls haven’t been around for over 40 years, but it’s alive and well at Maris Grove. And that includes NeighborCare’s “high level” personal service.

“We’ll provide free home delivery to any resident,” says Ades, “and the pharmacist will not only be able to consult you at the pharmacy, but will even conduct in-home consultations for those who need it.”

Mr. Ades says his company, which provides NeighborCare for six other Erickson communities, prides itself on focusing on personal service, prescription and over-the-counter medications, and other value-added services.

“Another thing we do is provide compliance packaging for people taking more than one medication a day,” he says. “If a resident has to take multiple medications daily, our compliance packaging provides them with weekly and monthly calendar packs. They can just open up a pack for, let’s say, Monday and their medication for the day will be there.”

New Medicare D Benefits

Beyond all the personal service and focus on prescription and over-thecounter medications, Mr. Ades points out that NeighborCare has been the no. 1 on-site pharmacy for communities like Maris Grove since 1995.

“We participate in all third-party prescription plans, specifically Medicare D—the newest prescription plan—which is part of the Medicare Moderation Act of 2003.”

Ades says that under this act, for the first time Medicare prescription benefits will be available to all Medicare-eligible patients.

“Before this, there were no Medicare pharmacy benefits,” he says. “Now there is, and people living at Maris Grove will have access to them.”
