“We’ll provide free home delivery to any resident,” says Ades, “and the pharmacist will not only be able to consult you at the pharmacy, but will even conduct in-home consultations for those who need it.”
Mr. Ades says his company, which provides NeighborCare for six other Erickson communities, prides itself on focusing on personal service, prescription and over-the-counter medications, and other value-added services.
“Another thing we do is provide compliance packaging for people taking more than one medication a day,” he says. “If a resident has to take multiple medications daily, our compliance packaging provides them with weekly and monthly calendar packs. They can just open up a pack for, let’s say, Monday and their medication for the day will be there.”
New Medicare D Benefits
Beyond all the personal service and focus on prescription and over-thecounter medications, Mr. Ades points out that NeighborCare has been the no. 1 on-site pharmacy for communities like Maris Grove since 1995.
“We participate in all third-party prescription plans, specifically Medicare D—the newest prescription plan—which is part of the Medicare Moderation Act of 2003.”
Ades says that under this act, for the first time Medicare prescription benefits will be available to all Medicare-eligible patients.
“Before this, there were no Medicare pharmacy benefits,” he says. “Now there is, and people living at Maris Grove will have access to them.”
