THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Perhaps by now you’ve heard that the Erickson lifestyle means maintenance-free living. According to Maris Grove’s new director of resident life, Marie DiCostanza, that translates into more free time to truly pursue your passions.
“Once the movers leave and the boxes are unpacked, people are anxious to get involved, share their talents, and meet their neighbors,” Marie says. “They no longer have the burden of taking care of their houses, or spending time in the car going to the beauty shop, the bank, doctor, post office—all of the errands that take so much time out of the day. They now have the time to do the things they’ve always wanted to do, pursue and cultivate new interests.”
The popularity of clubs and group activities at Erickson campuses has become a natural way to pursue these interests.
“It’s a way for people to meet each other, have fun, enjoy life, and experience the community,” says Marie.
“They have an opportunity to rediscover their life and explore new interests. The clubs and groups give people new outlets for their creative energy. The Pioneers I’ve met so far have wonderful ideas about learning, club and group ideas, and they bring a wealth of experience to the community. Erickson staff members appreciate and respect the ability of the residents to run their own activity groups. We’re just there to help get things started.”
“We share our gifts to create a community that celebrates life.”
That’s the Maris Grove mission statement, and Marie, and the rest of the staff will be there to help make it happen any way they can.
“As someone who was a part of the opening of Fox Run (an Erickson community in Michigan), I understand the importance of building a strong relationship with Pioneers in the development of the community,” says Marie. “I’m very excited to join Maris Grove. I’m already getting to know a lot of the people moving here this fall.”
