THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

When Maureen Heckler joined Erickson Communities last February, she felt like she had finally found an organization that shared her unwavering commitment to building relationship-rich communities. Little did she know that in less than a year, Erickson would be giving her an even greater opportunity—to fulfill that dream as the executive director of Maris Grove.

“This opportunity is extra exciting for me because I’m coming home,” says Maureen. “I live close to Maris Grove and know this area extremely well. I even completed undergraduate studies close by at Villanova, and obtained my MBA from Penn State.”

Having worked in the adult community and health care industries for more than 25 years, Maureen is supremely qualified for the position. She joined Erickson as the associate executive director at Ann’s Choice working side by side with its executive director, Joe LoCascio.

“Maureen brings a wealth of experience,” says Joe. “Her passions for creating excellence in service, activities, and lifestyle amply suit her role as she begins to build the spirit of this new community. We expect to see great things happening for and with the residents who choose Maris Grove as their community with Maureen as the executive director.”

Giving People What They Want

In addition to coming home to the Delaware County area, Maureen is excited about the impact Maris Grove is already having on the area.

“You can just look at the overwhelming response of Priority List members and Reserve members to know that people are excited about Maris Grove,” says Maureen. “Bringing this amenity-rich, maintenance-free lifestyle to this area will change people’s lives. Not just the people fortunate enough to live at Maris Grove, but also the impact to the labor market as well. This is a place where people will want to work and become part of the Erickson family.”

Maureen’s enthusiasm is contagious and she exudes it easily to everyone she meets.

“I think one of the things that makes Erickson communities extraordinary, is that we truly value our residents,” says Maureen. “Our interaction with residents is unique. While some places the staff and residents are very cordial, here we develop true friendships.”

Maureen points to the variety show held at Ann’s Choice this past summer that exemplifies what she means. “For two-and-a-half hours the residents and staff were side-by-side singing, dancing, hugging, and joking. I’m not saying this because it was special. I’m saying it because this goes on every day. People can’t help but be inspired when they’re at an Erickson community. The atmosphere is always fun and upbeat.”

Location and More

Like all Erickson communities, the location of Maris Grove was chosen for its unique aesthetic beauty.

“Maris Grove is in a beautiful historic area of Pennsylvania. It’s only a half hour from Philly, 15 minutes from Longwood Gardens, and only a few miles from Delaware,” Maureen says. “There are many historical and cultural things to do and the area itself—the rolling hills, majestic trees and orchards—is very country-like, but still close to the city. It’s the best of both worlds.”

Along with the incredible location and enchanting appeal, Maureen is equally excited about the staff at Maris Grove. “As many Priority List members and Reserves already know first hand, it’s a wonderful team,” says Maureen. “They are a very warm and hardworking group who look forward to helping the people in our community every day. Just like at Ann’s Choice, you can feel the same excitement when you walk into the Maris Grove Welcome Center.”

Maureen believes that Erickson is a special organization because everyone from the top down is focused on the same thing: helping residents enjoy this incredible lifestyle.

“I love working for this company. I drive here and I’m excited about going to work,” says Maureen. “It’s not just the people but our mission. We don’t just say things, we do things. We’re changing the way people see communities. People who live at Erickson are here to live life, not live out their lives.”

That’s something Maureen and the staff is committed to from the moment you walk through the doors.
