Earth Day: When nature calls

Posted on Monday, June 02, 2008

Bruce McHenry, chair of the Environmental Committee at Linden Ponds, leads a nature walk on Earth Day. Sporting his father’s 1932 Park Ranger uniform and possessing three decades of experience with the National Park Service, McHenry described to nearly 50 walkers the story of the community’s fertile land, once deemed unbuildable, and the many plants and animals that make home there.

The day also featured presentations about the importance of recycling, the power of wind turbines in the town of Hull, and the path that trash follows from the community to SEMASS (Southeastern Massachusetts’ disposal facility).
