Whether Linden Ponds community members choose to spend Thanksgiving dinner at the Hingham campus or elsewhere, staff members and services are there to ensure the perfect holiday gathering.

Those who will be dining at the Overlook restaurant at Linden Ponds have an eloquent meal—and view—to share with their families.

Festive meal and atmosphere
“It’s very festive; we have spectacular views of the woods  and the foliage,” says John Ravagno, director of dining services at Linden Ponds.

Linden Ponds serves up an expansive Thanksgiving brunch buffet with plenty of choices, Ravagno says. Turkey, ham, and even seafood will be displayed alongside butternut squash and sweet potatoes.

But there’s more than food to entertain the family.

“The grandkids can come in and take a swim in the pool, either before or after dinner. Some like to play billiards, then join the family for dinner, and now that we have a beautiful new pub, it’s a very nice atmosphere to toast in the holidays,” Ravagno adds.

Thanksgiving brunch runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., but there’s plenty to keep the family together for the rest of the afternoon.

The Linden Ponds community recently purchased a Nintendo Wii system. “It’s  a great opportunity for grandchildren to bowl with their grandparents and burn off some of the calories from all that gravy,” he adds.

For the sports buffs, the Derby Clubhouse Lounge boasts a large, flat-screen television and is just beside the new Acorn Pub, which now serves seasonal microbrew beers.

Private dining
Like other Erickson communities, Linden Ponds has plenty of space for families who prefer private dining.

“It’s a place where many families and many faiths come together at the same time to celebrate the holidays,” Ravagno says. The large catering room holds more than 100 people and can be split for two family gatherings or kept as is for one large party.

Those who live at Linden Ponds can also reserve the smaller private dining rooms for about a dozen guests.

Room for all
For Debbie Rogers, the accommodations at Linden Ponds make it easier for her large family to come together for the holiday.

“We always have a big gathering on Thanksgiving,” she says, and she isn’t kidding.

Around 50 people come in from California, Washington, Florida, and elsewhere, and many of them stay at the guest apartments at Linden Ponds.

“[The staff] provide the linens and have it cleaned, just as a hotel or motel,” Rogers says. “It’s very nice.”

For the rest, Rogers’ friends at Linden Ponds who have gone away for the holiday, offer their abodes.

Because the family needs so much travel time, the Rogers celebrate Thanksgiving on Saturday and the night before they dine at Linden Ponds.

“It’ll be wonderful,” Rogers says. “They like Linden  Ponds very much.”
