Bob Clifford shares his thoughts on Thanksgiving at Linden Ponds

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Bob Clifford
and his wife Elizabeth have a longstanding tradition of spending Thanksgiving together with family. And that tradition certainly didn’t stop when they moved to Linden Ponds. In fact, Linden Ponds is the perfect place for families during the holidays.
The Bureau of Transportation says that the Thanksgiving holiday is the biggest travel time of the year. Over 40% of people travel more than 50 miles to visit friends and family.
“Traditionally, we had thanksgiving dinner at our house, so we wanted to continue that tradition here at Linden Ponds. We thought having everyone here would be a good idea, and as it turned out, it was,” says Bob.
This past Thanksgiving was the second year in a row that the extended Clifford family could be found in Linden Ponds’ private dining room. “The private dining room is perfect; we can mingle with many of the other people who live here, but also we can have our own private family gathering. It’s an ideal situation,” he adds.
‘More expansive’
If you ask Bob to compare his Thanksgiving experience at his house to that of Linden Ponds, he’ll tell you there are many similarities. “Other than not having to go out and get the food, it’s had a very similar feel to the Thanksgivings we’ve had in our house. We have an opening prayer; we express what we are thankful for.”
But there are many things that aren’t so similar.
“We don’t have to cook and do the dishes. That’s certainly a major advantage to having Thanksgiving at Linden Ponds. You can actually visit with your family rather than work. We can spend more time with people we don’t see as often,” adds Bob.
