Meet Bob and Barbara Ward
From where did you move and how long had you lived there?
We lived in Bridgewater, Mass. We lived there for 33 years.
What did you do there?
We were both professors at Bridgewater State College. Barbara: I taught Foreign Languages, Spanish and German. Bob: I taught Photography in the Art Department.
Having lived in Bridgewater for so long, did that make it hard to move to Linden Ponds?
The decision to move to Linden Ponds was easy. But the act of moving was more difficult. We of course had to do some serious downsizing, but it’s never as hard as you originally think it is.
When you first heard of Linden Ponds, did you ever feel that it was too expensive? If so, how did your perception change?
No. We figured out early on that it was affordable. We explored Brooksby Village (Linden Ponds’ sister community) on the North Shore before Linden Ponds was built. It was our mantra for retirement. We would say, When we retired, we were going to Brooksby. One day we received a post card to visit Brooksby. We visited Brooksby twice and that convinced us that Erickson was right for us, but we weren’t interested in moving to the North Shore. So when Linden Ponds came to be, we made the move.
