THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Recently the public was invited to join residents of Highland Springs for an outdoor movie night.
The free event was held on Highland Springs’ front lawn under a star-filled sky. One hundred thirty guests reserved seats.
The night featured live entertainment by Richard Berry, a cruise ship singer/performer. Information booths and game tents attracted grandparents and grandchildren alike. Guests munched on hot dogs and popcorn and sipped cider and hot chocolate. All concession sales benefited the Benevolent Care Fund, which assists residents who need financial help.
The movie Secondhand Lions was shown on a 26- by 13-foot screen. The 2003 film stars Robert Duvall, Michael Caine, Haley Joel Osment, and Kyra Sedgewick. It was based in Texas and written and directed by Tim McCanlies, who owns a ranch in central Texas.
This was Highland Springs’ first movie night under the stars. Organizers say everyone had so much fun, they plan to do it again.
