The Go Gals of Highland Springs know how to have a good time. When they’re not enjoying activities at home, they find fun off campus by trying new restaurants, attending plays and musicals, visiting museums, and taking road trips together.

The Go Gals is a group open to all women who live at Highland Springs, says Doris Murray, the club’s president. Here’s how it works: Each gal takes her turn planning a monthly destination or event, and the group goes along for the ride.

Out on the town
Go Gal Mae Wilks says she enjoys the friendships in the group, as well as the food the members sample at different restaurants. The bunch is so well versed in the Dallas dining scene that it has even been described as a “walking restaurant guide.” Elaine Lagerstrom, new to Texas, says being in the group gives her an opportunity to see places in Texas she might not otherwise; plus she likes the camaraderie.

While opinions may differ on their favorite appetizers and artworks, most of the Go Gals agree that when it comes to their group, who they’re with is more important than what they do.

Lonely vs. lively
People with close confidantes have healthier immune systems, stronger hearts, and less depression and anxiety—not to mention more fun—reports Revolution Health.

The ladies of Highland Springs find their connections in groups like the Go Gals, where fun, food, and fellowship become the main course. They surmise,  however,  that the men will have to form their own group— the “Go Guys,” of course.
