THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
If the TV show “Family Feud” is a favorite of yours, then you may want to tune in to the Highland Springs Floor Feuds.
Just how well do you know your neighbors on other floors? Do you know their favorite hobbies, TV shows, favorite colors, what time they go to bed, and what time they get up? Do you know why they moved to Highland Springs?
Surveys and scores
Highland Springs’ revamped version of “Family Feud” pits floor residents against each other. Five team members from each floor attempt to match answers from resident surveys taken earlier. After several rounds, the top two teams are then challenged to a tie-breaker.
Recently, Highland Springs Associate Executive Director Bill Layer kept things rolling as the show’s host with wit and humor. Community Resources Coordinator Barbara Blachly organized the survey questions and moved things along. Residents responded with laughter and jokes of their own. One participant did a cheerleader routine for her team; another tried humming “Listen to the Mockingbird” just before her teammate ran out of time to make a point with the correct answer, “mockingbird.”
Although it didn’t help their team, it did help the competition. The final two teams, Homesteaders vs. Quad Four, competed for the chance to win gift cards. The “nailbiter” close win found Quad Four the champions, but at Highland Springs, everybody wins; both teams received gift cards, with the winners getting just a few dollars more.
Human interest
For the men, it might help to know the five favorite gifts women like to receive are jewelry, flowers, candy, clothing, and gift cards. Now that should help for those special occasions. And from day to day, going to bed at 11 p.m. and rising at 6:30 a.m. will find you like many of your peers at Highland Springs.
