Pool tournament separates sharks from minnows

Posted on Saturday, March 01, 2008

Bill Crawford and Noni Meaney, who live at Highland Springs, came up with the idea of organizing an eight-ball double elimination pool tournament for their advanced players (the Sharks) and their beginning and intermediate players (the Minnows).

During the two-week tournament, every contestant played in at least two  rounds; winners of round one continued in the main brackets, while others went on to the consolation rounds. Meaney finished first for the Minnows, followed by Dot Lovett. Joe Kreideweis (pictured, right) finished in first place for the Sharks, and Pete Robertson (pictured, left) came in second.

Organizers hope to make this an annual event, and they are already looking  forward to next year’s competition.
