Injured vacationer owes speedy recovery to innovative new health tool

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Arlon Quigley never imagined that his vacation out of state would end in a medical emergency. A Senior Olympic athlete, the Erickson resident was in great shape when he hiked into the Pennsylvania woods on a trip with his grandchildren. A wrong step caused Quigley to lose his footing and fall, breaking several bones and puncturing his lung.
As Quigley was rushed to a nearby hospital, his Erickson HealthSM team back home jumped into action. With a click of a button, they pulled up his complete medical history on Centricity, Erickson’s innovative electronic medical records system, and faxed it to the hospital in Pennsylvania. Centricity saved Quigley and his doctors precious time and set him on the road to recovery faster.
When every second counts
“Centricity benefits both our patients and medical staff,” says Dr. William Featherston of Highland Springs. “Patients can get a printout of their medications and instructions, and medical staff can stay up-to-date daily with patients’ medical records, medications, and lab tests and results. We have it all at our fingertips.”
Centricity gives Erickson Health doctors confidential, up-to-the-minute information on your prescription medicines and treatment plans, reducing the risk of dangerous drug interactions and eliminating the confusion of overstuffed paper files, which are all too easily lost or misplaced.
A faster recovery
Even if his vacation didn’t go exactly as planned, Quigley got to go home much sooner thanks to Centricity. Now, the Olympian is back in the swimming pool training for the 100- yard breaststroke.
