Life at Highland Springs gives you more time for a holly, jolly December with friends and family

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

Come December, we all fall under the spell of the holidays. Whether we celebrate the 12 days of Christmas or the eight days of Hanukkah, holidays are times when we should be concentrating on friends and family.

Yet with our busy lives, finding time for the important people is easier said than done. More often than not, we find ourselves dashing through the day, sitting in traffic, waiting for a repairperson, or arranging for a house sitter when we should be enjoying time with the grandchildren.

However, when Highland Springs opened in the fall, hundreds of new residents found there was a way to have their figgy pudding and enjoy the season, too.

Over the river and through the woods
If the holidays are spent far and away, individuals who live at Highland Springs just make travel plans, and go. It’s that easy.

There’s no worry about the newspapers on the front lawn. No problem with the house looking empty or the mail piling up. The highly trained security staff is on duty 24/7.

Coming home’s easy, too. Just a wave at the guard on the way in.

You don’t even have to worry with stocking the refrigerator. Just pop in to the Cotton Belt Café for a meal.

Getting ready is easier, too
Built-in conveniences at Highland Springs make getting ready for the holidays easier, too.

When it comes to shopping, residents can use free, scheduled transportation for a regular, weekly visit to a nearby shopping center.

No hassle finding a parking spot. No worry about long, unescorted trips to the car. Imagine what a delightful shopping trip that would be.

Individuals who live at Highland Springs don’t have to push fitness to the back burner during the holidays. The Fitness Center and the Aquatics Center are in the building, so it’s easy to find time for 30 minutes —even when the weather’s miserable—for exercise or swimming.

Plus, with Dr. William Featherston and his staff just minutes away in the Medical Center, doctor’s appointments don’t get off schedule either.

’Tis the season
As well as family celebrations, the holidays are filled with friends at Highland Springs. Residents will gather for parties, planned and impromptu. They will find time to enjoy performances from local choirs and choruses eager to perform.

In the kitchen, Chef Travis Wick is planning special menus for Christmas and New Year’s. “Holiday dinners are very important here at Highland Springs. We are always very particular about our service, but we go even further to make the special occasions even more festive and inviting for our residents and their guests,” says Chef Travis. “We’ll choose a variety of fancy recipes for fish, beef, and chicken. There will also be fresh fruits and vegetables, an array of desserts, and, of course, black-eyed peas for New Year’s.”

We’re making a list, and checking it twice
