Integrated Services of Erickson HealthSM Help Houston Resident Get Back on Her Feet

When Nancy Van Lente moved to Erickson’s Eagle’s Trace in the fall of 2005, she was walking with a cane, primarily to help ease her ongoing balance problems. Then she hurt her hip and needed a wheelchair.

A lifelong exerciser, Nancy instinctively turned back to what she believed in. With the guidance of Dr. Raina Patel in the Eagle’s Trace Medical Center, physical therapy, and the Fitness Center trainers, she was able to get out of a wheelchair and back on her feet.

Wrapped Up in Well-Being
“Ms. Van Lente’s work in physical therapy and her dedication to exercise classes have put her back on her feet,” says Patel.

“I have to believe that the support she got, and the fact that there’s a wonderful social life right outside her door, also contributed to her success. Most individuals in similar circumstances would have been house-bound, but she was out and active every minute,” Patel adds.

“It’s just a happy situation,” says Nancy. “I love the idea of everything being right here. I feel like I’m in a cocoon. And I love this cocoon.”
