Strong Local Real Estate Defies National Slump

Posted on Wednesday, November 01, 2006

Could that “pop” be the sound of the national housing bubble bursting?

Even as doomsayers revel in the dramatic decline of the housing market in some major American cities, for now sales activity and prices in Texas are still holding strong.

But in light of a recent Federal Reserve Bank report on sales of existing homes, the Metroplex may also see the advantage shift to buyers in the not-too-distant future. The time between listing and closing is growing slightly, and although values are still rising, the rate of appreciation has flattened somewhat.

The Bottom Line
What does this mean to those who are waiting to cash in the equity in their homes? It means don’t wait too long. Many retirees are choosing to put their homes on the market now, rather than risk the uncertainties of the future.

There may never be a better time to get the most equity out of your current home, and the best price on a new apartment home at Highland Springs. Can you afford to wait?
