Highland Springs’ opening gives census a boost; more than 18,000 people now living in our campuses

Posted on Tuesday, October 03, 2006

CATONSVILLE, MD – More than 400 future residents, family, and friends celebrated the grand opening of Erickson’s 15th campus, Highland Springs in Dallas, Texas, on September 20.

“We have already settled and moved in more than 60 individuals and anticipate moving in 240 by the end of the year,” said Director of Sales and Marketing Tricia Mackin. “Since we opened, we have been seeing record demand for appointment times. Our Retirement Counselor Christina Christie is booked out four weeks, and our Sales Associate Lauren Campanella is booked out three weeks.”

Marie and Pete Higa of Flower Mound, Texas, were among the first to move in to the community.

“No more maintenance or yard work. And no more $3-a-gallon gas to go to the health club or Central Market,” says Mrs. Higa. “If there had been a place like Highland Springs anywhere in the Metroplex, we would have moved long ago.”

The opening of Highland Springs and the 62 people who moved in there in September pushed Erickson’s company-wide resident census to 18,208 as of September 30.

According to Operations Program Manager Denise Irwin, this represents “a net increase of 1.68 percent or 301 residents, clearly nearly 50 percent stronger than our average net monthly increase of 175 residents per month, or just about 10 new residents a day around the country.”

Irwin adds that Eagle’s Trace also provided a boost to the census last month; 53 residents recently moved into the newly opened Redbud Crossing residential building there.

Erickson’s resident population will get another shot in the arm this month when Maris Grove, Erickson’s second community in Pennsylvania, opens. The first resident moved into Maris Grove yesterday, and the community’s grand opening celebration will be held tomorrow, October 4.

Priscilla Clapp, who previously resided in Swarthmore, Pa., was the very first resident to move into Maris Grove yesterday. She is leading the way for the 322 Maris Grove pioneers who are moving into the community between now and the end of the year.

“I decided that I wanted to be in an Erickson community and Maris Grove was the perfect fit, enabling me to move close to my son in Wallingford and to spend more time with my two grandsons,” says Clapp. (Lauren Campione, Kate Newton, Steve Tyler)
