THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Amid the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, Henry Ford Village, in Dearborn, is like a snowglobe of glitter and glow, alive with activities, services, concerts, and feasts.
Two of the most anticipated events of the season are the annual holiday celebration and the Henry Ford Village Choir concert.
The festive holiday celebration will be held on December 14 and is open to residents and their friends and family. The celebration will include entertainment, photos with Santa, yummy holiday treats, crafts for children, plus complimentary holiday professional photos for party-goers.
Holiday shoppers can stop in at the craft boutique, featuring handmade items from residents and their family and friends.
Skilled painter to display and sell wares
Lois Anderegg will be a featured crafter this year. Anderegg, who moved from Sun City, Ariz., with her husband, Fred, has been painting for more than 40 years.
"It’s mostly oil paintings and wooden plates," Anderegg says. She estimates she has painted more than 20 pieces since moving to Henry Ford Village less than a year ago.
"I paint mostly landscapes and lighthouses," she says. Most of her paintings are 11 by 14 inches.
Anderegg also paints various items made of wood, including horses and plates. "The wooden plates are used for wall décor, or snack food, sandwiches, and cookies," she says. "They are washable."
Anderegg says she is looking forward to selling some of her works, as there are a lot of them. She’s already given plenty to family and friends over the years.
She will also bring several hand-painted greeting cards to the fair. Some of her most recent paintings include subjects like parrots and a cat playing chess.
Other crafters who will showcase their wares include Mary Jane Swartz (quilting crafts); Joe Pinho (wood crafts); Nancy Porter (stained glass); and Marge Lilley (small oil paintings).
