Offers financial program to those who qualify

A few years ago, Richard Matica was dealing with a flooded basement in his old house, in Taylor. He was tired of dealing with the maintenance on his house and wanted to find something smaller—a home with fewer hassles.

“I wanted to move there, but I thought I’d have to wait,” says Matica, who wanted a studio apartment for him and his dog.

One day he noticed an ad in the paper announcing Henry Ford Village’s Flexible Pricing Program, and he decided to check it out.

Offering assistance
“We have found that, due in large part to the state of the economy and specifically the real estate market in metro Detroit, there are many seniors who would love to move to our community, but they are hesitant to make the decision without knowing they will have the equity from their home to use as the entrance deposit,” says Adam Sterling, sales and marketing director at Henry Ford Village.

The Flexible Pricing Program applies to studio and one bedroom apartment homes at Henry Ford Village and is being offered for a limited time (it’s subject to a quarterly review and renewal by the community’s notfor- profit board of directors.)

“The Flexible Pricing Program is perfect for these individuals. They are able to make the lower entrance deposit and benefit from all that life at Henry Ford Village has to offer while they sell their home,” says Sterling.

Once Matica decided to take advantage of the new program, it was all smooth sailing from there; it only took a few weeks until he was relaxing in his new home at Henry Ford Village.

“Everything has worked out just fine for me,” Matica says. “This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me …. I have everything on-site here that I want or need.”

Decision made easy
Jack Quick, who moved to Henry Ford Village, had no trouble downsizing eight years ago.

“It wasn’t difficult for me,” Quick says. “My four daughters were all married; my wife died 15 years ago. I was living alone in a huge house with my puppy, Annie. After a couple of years, I got fed up.

“It was a big, beautiful house,” Quick says. “But I kept getting more lonesome and tired of it.” Quick, a former vice-president for General Motors, worked overseas and traveled the world. When he finally decided to downsize, he immediately honed in on Henry Ford Village.

“This was it. I looked all over the United States for the best place,” he says. “This was by far the best one; I didn’t have to look any further.”
