Sizeable savings offered for all Ford families

When Mary Jane Swartz moved to Henry Ford Village from Westland, she received a whopping $10,000 off of her 100% Refundable Entrance Deposit. Mary Jane’s late husband, Byron, was a Ford Motor Company retiree. Thanks to the Henry Ford Legacy Plan offered at Henry Ford Village, community members such as Mary Jane benefit if they or an immediate relative are Ford employees or retirees.

“I’m a surviving spouse,” says Mary Jane. “It was such a plus. It really helped me financially.”

According to Henry Ford Village’s Executive Director, Larry Vidovic, the plan was introduced two years ago. “Ford is a long standing institution in this area, and this property was developed in conjunction with Ford Motor Land Development,” says Larry. “It was a joint venture between Ford Land and Erickson Communities’ Chairman and CEO, John Erickson.”

Who is eligible for the Plan?
The Plan, which offers a 10% (up to $10,000) on the 100% Refundable Entrance Deposit on a new home at Henry Ford Village, is available to Ford employees and retirees, as well as his or her:

• Spouse

• Parents

• Spouse’s parents

• Children

• Siblings

• Grandparents

“It’s very similar to the ‘A’ Plan at Ford Motor Company,” says Larry. “We’re honoring the heritage and support of Ford’s – the same reason we proudly fly the Ford flag on campus.”

“We have a lot of Ford employees, relatives, and retirees here on campus,” he adds. “The Legacy Plan is about remembering and honoring our roots. The people who take advantage of it receive a tremendous savings, as well as a benefit for their years of service at Ford Motor Company.”

Mary Jane: ‘I was so happy to have it’
Mary Jane says she was so impressed with Henry Ford Village that she would have moved there, Legacy Plan or not. “Once I made up my mind to come here, that was it,” she says. “Saving $10,000 was an added bonus. I was so happy to have it.”

Mary Jane says she’s never heard of anything even remotely similar being offered like the Legacy Plan. “Anybody I talk to, I tell them they should move here. I’m very pleased with everything.”

Mary Jane’s children gave their thumbs up, too: “They told me, ‘Good deal, mom.’”
