THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

Erickson’s highly successful Erickson Realty and Moving Services program (ERMS) is making its debut in the Washington, D.C. area for those looking for assistance in selling their house.

According to the latest quarterly survey by the National Association of Realtors, “Home sales in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and the vast majority of metropolitan areas, have experienced modest gains compared with a year earlier.”

Eager to sell their houses and begin experiencing the Erickson lifestyle, many people throughout the area continue to join the Priority Lists at all three local Erickson campuses. Currently, more than 3,200 people are on these waiting lists.

Expert assistance
ERMS helps make the move to an Erickson community as seamless as possible. This proactive service simplifies every aspect of the move-in process, including consultative home visits; professional real estate advice and marketing, staging, downsizing, packing, and moving; and an array of other services  designed to connect homeowners with valuable resources.

“We offer a customized array of highly qualified professional resources designed to provide direct contact and assistance,” says Sharon Baksa, who oversees the ERMS program for all Erickson communities.

“Our goal is to ensure that each future community member has a truly  outstanding move experience.” In fact, all over the country people are using ERMS to help sell their houses. “There were three other condos for sale in my complex. I was the one who sold,” says Dorothy Fisher, who moved to Fox Run, an Erickson community in Michigan, with the help of ERMS. “It wasn’t luck—it was having the right people behind me. Erickson Realty and Moving Services helped with staging my home. If I hadn’t had their help, I’d still be waiting to move.”

Help before the doors open
Kathy DeSantis, Ashby Ponds’ personal moving consultant, is the newest member of the ERMS family. DeSantis worked in the Washington, D.C. region for over 20 years as an interior designer, as well as in design, marketing, and sales for a regional home builder. In that capacity she has worked with clients all over the region, across the United States, and even overseas.

“My background in interior design included many aspects of preparing homes  for sale, as well as renovating and redecorating future homes for clients,” says DeSantis. “While working in the design field, it was necessary for me to stay very current with the real estate market and keep up-to-date on home trends, values, and resale figures.”

In her new position at Ashby Ponds, DeSantis will help future residents prepare to move out of their current house and into their new home at Ashby Ponds.

“I can help with real estate market questions, referrals, and information, as well  as provide referrals for professional downsizers, moving planners, and stagers for their current house, and packers and decorators for when they move,”  DeSantis says. “Basically, I’m here to help in any way I can.”

Professional advice
Armed with DeSantis’ expert advice and knowledge of the local real estate market, sellers in the Washington, D.C. area will no doubt have an edge over their competition.

“One of the most important issues home sellers need to address is setting their sale price realistically, rather than comparing it to what it might have been two or three years ago,” says DeSantis.

“It’s quite likely that future residents of Ashby Ponds and other communities have lived in their current house for many years. Their investment was a solid one, and they should be proud of the return. Choosing a Realtor wisely, making the decision to present the house as best as possible, whether through staging or light redecorating, will be key to making their house stand out. The marketing of their house will be crucial, and investing in the right professional to do this is imperative. That’s why I’m here to help.”
