Why did you move to Fox Run?

“When I first visited Fox Run, I immediately felt at home and sensed that the staff and residents were so warm and welcoming. I had first looked at other places, and Fox Run is just unique. It has a special quality about it…it’s a feeling you get around the people who live here. And the staff—they’re really special. It just makes for a better quality of life when you’re surrounded by very, very caring people.

“I can’t pinpoint one thing. It’s a collection of so many positives that make my life so much better here.”

What advice would you give to others considering moving to Fox Run?

“I tell people who want to move, but are worried about the tremendous job of emptying the house: ‘Just do it sooner than later, and you’ll be so happy.’

“If I had waited, I would have missed all the wonderful experiences I’ve had already—they just keep coming. Wonderful friends and new associations; I would have missed that.”

What do you think of Fox Run’s Monthly Service Package?

“I’m very happy with the monthly service package, because I’m not spending more than I did at home for upkeep and repairs. I’m very happy with that.

“I was spending a huge amount of money for the upkeep of my house. I had to hire everyone . . . mechanical, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, maintenance for the yard, snow removal. So in my figuring before I moved here, I realized I’d have a lot to use for my own enjoyment instead of putting it into my house.”

How do you spend your time at Fox Run?

“I am into so many more things than I was, because my house seemed to be taking all of my time.

“I moved in here and it was like being a kid in a candy shop. There were so many interesting things that awakened interests I didn’t even know I had—like table tennis and arranging flowers for the dining room tables. I gave up my garden when I moved, but now I’m handling fresh flowers every week. I hadn’t sung in a group before, but now I’m in the choir, and I love it. Every day is so full!”

What’s the Ascot Clubhouse like?

“I love the clubhouse because we can walk through covered walkways to services that we had to drive to before. It’s so convenient getting to the dining room, the hairdresser, or the bank.

“The pool keeps those of us who use it regularly so much happier! By the time I leave it, I’m just so charged for the day and energized to enjoy all the activities they have here. It’s just the greatest feeling to be swimming in the heated indoor pool and look out at the snow falling.”

How’s the food and the dining experience at Fox Run?

“The food is great, and I look forward to sharing a meal with different people every night. I no longer take a tray and have Peter Jennings as my dining.”
