Attendees at Fox Run, in Novi, recently checked out many of the campus’s different groups and clubs.
From bicycling to genealogy and from quilting to jazzercise, Fox Run presented more than 100 groups, clubs, and activities at the event.
Your Own University
One group making its presence known at the expo was Your Own University, or “Y.O.U.” for short. Resident Gae McCord, who moved to Fox Run from Greenville, S.C., founded the group more than two years ago.
Y.O.U. features guest speakers, instructors, and lecturers who talk about a variety of subjects. Previous topics include theater, dance, poetry, and ethics.
McCord says she was happy with the turnout at the expo. “We talked to a lot of people who were curious about the group,” McCord says. Literature covering some of the group’s past as well as future topics was distributed to anyone who stopped by their booth.
“We will be doing a series on constitutional law in conjunction with the upcoming election, as well a Shakespearean course,” McCord says.
100 groups and counting
This year’s expo was bigger and better than ever. “As we grow as a community, so do our many groups and clubs on campus,” says Mike McCormick, executive director.
