Ralph Rays, moved from Dearborn Heights

Why did you choose Fox Run?

“It was a brand-new development, and our house had come to the point where we either had to do some major upgrades or sell it. And it intrigued us that by coming to a new place like Fox Run, we could put upgrades into our new apartment home—do it to our taste. Plus, Fox Run is located near the expressway system, so we can get anywhere from here.”

Is Fox Run a good value for your money?

“Yes, because we moved here when we were healthy enough to take advantage of what Fox Run offers—the Fitness Center, the indoor swimming pool. We can participate in all the activities here. Yes! We’re getting our money’s worth.”

What do you enjoy most about living at Fox Run?

“We certainly enjoy the social contacts and making new friends. I enjoy the facilities and the terrain around here—I like to walk. I can start doing the things I kept dreaming about . . . like having a little more time to get on the golf course.

“There are lectures here, concerts, I’m in the chorus. We even formed a male barbershop group—so I’m in that. We’ve got Happy Hour here twice a week.

“Just being able to participate in these social activities, these learning activities, is great. You can take a shuttle bus to go to a ball game, go to a concert, go to the auto show. It’s marvelous—I don’t have to battle the crowds downtown or find a parking space. I get delivered right to the door, picked up, and brought right back to the door here. Those are all the things I like about living at Fox Run.”

How do you like the Ascot Clubhouse?

“It’s very impressive. I bring guests over, and they’re very impressed by all the amenities. I like the barbershop being right here, the Medical Center, the 24-hour security.”

How’s the food?

“I think the food is excellent. We eat healthful things. It's great we have so many selections at dinner so we can make choices that suit us.”

Some of Michigan’s most interesting people are choosing

Fox Run for its fabulous lifestyle and amenities

Jytte Winn from Wolverine Village

Why did you choose Fox Run?

“I had seen it advertised. Fox Run appealed to us because there were a lot of activities, plus the security. For me, the 24-hour security was important.”

What do you enjoy most about living at Fox Run?

“I have a very lovely apartment where I can be by myself if I want. But as soon as I’m outside the door there are always some activities going on. I’m very active physically, and they offer me classes in Jazzercise, and water aerobics. I go to the pool every morning. And I play tennis on my own.

“And then there are a lot of friends. You find that everybody is very friendly.”

What advice would you give to a friend or neighbor about moving to Fox Run?

“Do it, before it gets to the point where you need more help and cannot live independently.”

Have you used the Medical Center at Fox Run?

“I still go to the doctor I’ve used for years, but I’ve used the facilities here in emergencies, and most of the people here like it very much. The doctor here is very, very good.”

How’s the health care and wellness environment at Fox Run?

“There’s a lot of health care available. They have a lot of seminars they give on health topics. Doctors come in and talk with us. Right now they have a health clinic here where you can have your blood work done, and people can have their blood pressure checked for free twice a month by the Fox Run nurse.”

Do you think you get good value for your money at Fox Run?

“Yes, absolutely! Because I’ve seen people who live in a plain old apartment where they may pay $1,200 a month for rent, but they don’t get any of the amenities that I have. So I think Fox Run’s a very nice place.”

What activities are you involved in at Fox Run?

“A lot is offered. We have so many committees! I go down to the concerts in Detroit once a month, go to the theaters. I’m in the travel group—I’ve been to Branson, Missouri with a group and we’re going to go on a barge down the Mississippi River in March. I could be busy 24 hours a day if I wanted to.”

How’s the dining experience at Fox Run?

“Dining is wonderful! I and some of my friends . . . we try not to always sit with the same people at the same table. We like to mix it up, so we meet new people and include the people who just moved in to help them feel at home.”
