Michigan campuses are all dressed up for the holidays

Posted on Tuesday, December 12, 2006

NOVI/DEARBORN, MI – Fox Run and Henry Ford Village are dressed in holiday finery to welcome the holiday season. The trees are trimmed, the lights are lit, and the stockings are hung on the chimneys with care.

Inside Fox Run, the luxurious decorations feature rich jewel tones accented with bright gold throughout the facility. Twinkling white lights add sparkle and shine to the numerous trees. Yard after yard of ribbon and garland treated with berries and pinecones decorate the staircases and mantels adding a special touch of the outdoors. Smiling toy soldiers stand guard at the entrance to Ascot Clubhouse.

Resident, staff and visitors are welcomed to the community by outdoor decorations as well thousands of white lights along the roof tops and strung on the trees. Carolers, candy canes, snowmen and a carriage line the drive to the main entrance canopy.

“We have to be the best lit complex in Novi this holiday season,” comments Fred Moschetta Fox Run’s sales and marketing director. “We love sharing the excitement of the holidays with the community.”

At Henry Ford Village, seasonal vignette featuring life-sized, animated children fills the Village “rotunda.” Each figure represents a different nationality and is positioned around a rotating globe amidst twinkling trees, sparkling snow and poinsettia accents. The display is designed to celebrate and honor the many cultures that live or work at Henry Ford Village.

Henry Ford Village Executive Director Larry Vidovic says, “Henry Ford Village is proud to be home to so many different nationalities. We are a community that celebrates diversity and our holiday decorations are representational of our philosophy.”

Additionally, a larger than life nativity scene is also constructed each year in the Great Lakes Clubhouse lobby. The set is complete with a manger, the holy family, angel and lighted palm trees. A display of miniature ceramic buildings and coordinating accessories creates a quaint village just outside the Great Lakes dining room. Wreaths, garlands and bows that are scattered about complete the whole package.

Residents of Henry Ford Village share their favorite holiday trimmings by dressing the entrances to their homes. Santas, reindeer, tiny trees and other festive finery add personal touches that are warm and inviting.

“The residents love the displays. They love to share them with their families as well,” adds Vidovic. “The look on the children’s faces when they see the animation and lights truly tells us what the season is about!” (Kathie Shaffer)
