NOVI, MI – Fox Run was recently filled with cheers and encouragement for Detroit Tigers at a “Go Tigers” pep rally, which was held in the community’s Fireside Restaurant. The special guest for the event was Fox Run’s own resident Hall of Fame announcer, Ernie Harwell.
“Fox Run is a community that shares their gifts to celebrate life,” said Mike McCormick, executive director at Fox Run. “Mr. Harwell graciously shared some of his favorite Tiger memories with the community in honor of their run for the World Series.”
More than 300 people including residents, staff, and guests – many sporting Tiger colors – gathered in the dining room of the Ascot Clubhouse for the afternoon celebration. McCormick welcomed the crowd and asked them to stand for the singing of the National Anthem by Dining Services Manager Maggie Shaffer. The program continued with comments from Harwell and a Tiger Trivia Contest, and concluded with a chance for residents to test their pitching skills with a pitching speed booth provided by Total Baseball of Wixom, Mich. Traditional ball park fare including hot dogs, popcorn, Cracker Jacks, and ice cream bars was served.
“We are proud of our Tigers,” adds McCormick, “but even more proud that Mr. Harwell calls Fox Run his home with his lovely wife, Lu Lu.” (Kathie Shaffer)
