They Give it Straight A’s

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

Recently, we asked people living at Fox Run to rate their community based on a wide range of criteria. They were questioned about the food, health care, quality of the staff, maintenance, security, as well as other important aspects of their lives at Fox Run.

Upon their first review of the findings, those responsible for analyzing the results asked that the numbers be double-checked because they could not believe what they were seeing. In virtually all categories, the people at Fox Run have given straight A’s to the community. Further review resulted in the same answers—Fox Run residents say it is the best of the best.

Mike McCormick, executive director of Fox Run, is not at a loss for words when asked to comment about the findings.

“Since the first apartment home was occupied almost three years ago, we take pride in providing people with the finest conveniences and lifestyle we can find. We have huge shoes to fill because Erickson Retirement Communities has established the standards of excellence we are expected to offer and we can only do that by bringing together the finest facilities and besttrained staff we can find. Obviously, we are very flattered by what the people who live here have to say about us.”

Food and People Make a Big Difference

The survey touches on many important issues that affect people living at Fox Run. For example, several questions ask about the quality of the food, how well it is prepared, and how well it is served. Fox Run scores at the top for every question asked about this important topic. There are also a number of questions about the quality and attitude of the staff, factors that impact the daily lives of people living at Fox Run. Given the importance Fox Run places on the selection, training, and managing of its employees, it is not surprising folks give Fox Run the highest of marks in this category.

Retirement Counselor Carolyn Ives was thrilled about the survey results.

“If you work here every day like I do, you soon see you are surrounded by people who really know how to do their jobs and treat others with kindness and respect. It’s a great place to work and I take pride knowing that the staff at Fox Run is exceeding expectations.”

Fox Run’s Health Care Stands Out

The survey explores health care, another major area. People were asked questions about the quality of care they receive, timeliness of delivery, the coordination of health services, and responsiveness of the staff. In every case, Fox Run receives the highest ratings. Dr. Vrinda Suneja, medical director at Fox Run, gives us greater insight into the results.

“We work hard to create a state-of-the-art Medical Center. It is something that people expect when they move here and I think it’s wonderful they recognize the high-quality care that they are receiving.”

In early 2007, Fox Run will open the new Renaissance Gardens, the finest assisted living and long-term care facility in Oakland County. At Renaissance Gardens, people have access to all of Fox Run’s amenities, and 24-hour visiting, while receiving expert care from doctors, nurses, and therapists at a higher level than that provided in their apartment homes.

600 People Can’t Be Wrong

With a population of 600, Fox Run is one of the most popular communities in Michigan. Patterned after over a dozen other Erickson communities around the country, its mission is to provide more services and lifestyle amenities to people 62-plus than any other community of its kind at a price middle-income people can afford. Erickson, the first to offer a fully-refundable entrance deposit, enables people to leave more of their estates to their heirs.

Yousef Wassef, who moved to Fox Run from Troy, Michigan, had kind words about his new home. “Fox Run has so many things to do, and such a variety—you can’t possibly cover all the opportunities we have here.”
