THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Sixty-four miles an hour. Bud Oweiss knows the perfect speed for cruising in his 35-foot motor home. And it’s not a number he discovered overnight.
“This year marks our 45th year of traveling in a trailer or motor home,” says Oweiss, who has seen most of the country with his wife, Betty.
A salesman by trade, Mr. Oweiss purchased his first trailer so Betty and their twin daughters could travel with him when he hit the road for work.
“We were able to show our girls all of the lower 48 states. It was a great time for us,” says Mr. Oweiss.
Happy travels
Since moving to Eagle’s Trace in April 2007, the couple has found it even easier to pack up and go.
“When we owned a house we would have neighbors looking after it when we traveled,” says Mr. Oweiss. “Here [at Eagle’s Trace] there is a great peace of mind knowing we don’t have to worry about what’s happening at our apartment. There are professional people looking after it.
“It didn’t take too long after we moved in to admit to each other that this is home,” he adds.
Now when other residents see the Oweiss’ blue and white motor home in the Eagle’s Trace parking lot, “they want to know where we are going,” says Mr. Oweiss.
This month they are headed to Kerrville in the Texas Hill Country. Then they are off to Florida in the early fall.
“We like to go new places and meet new people,” says Mrs. Oweiss. “Living here makes it very easy to do that.”
Home, sweet home
For those who prefer the comforts of home to the open road, the Eagle’s Trace lifestyle offers a hassle-free way to entertain family and friends on-site.
Tom Stephens and his wife, Mary, often invite their two grandsons from Katy, ages 8 and 10, to visit them at Eagle’s Trace.
“This is a very grandchild- friendly place,” says Mr. Stephens. “Our grandsons enjoy swimming in the pool, they like playing the Wii gaming system, and they love the Sunday brunch.
