Sifu Brad Ryan of Meng’s Martial Arts of Houston will teach deep breathing techniques using chi cong for stress reduction and everyday living. Chi cong (also known as qigong) literally means “breathing exercise.” Its aim is to control the circulation of vital energy throughout the body and to enter a state of quietness or perfect relaxation. Chi cong is used as part the tai chi classes taught at Eagle’s Trace.

Attorney William Hayes will explain legal documents, including living wills, medical power of attorney, financial power attorney, trusts, and directives. Hayes is a frequent speaker on estate planning, wills and trusts, probate, charitable gifting, disability planning, elder law, and Medicaid. He has served the Houston Bar Association as cochair of the Elder Law Committee and chair of the Fee Dispute Committee. In 2004 he received the HBA President’s Award.

Presenter Thia McKann is the owner of Houston’s only organic tea shop, The Path of Tea. McKann offer a tea tasting of fine organic teas. She will also share tips for brewing tea, explain the health benefits of drinking tea, and offer insight into rituals involving tea found in other cultures.
