Fashion show highlights good looks and good fashion

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Jack Wilson is more used to crunching numbers than he is walking down the catwalk. But the former accountant looked like a pro at a recent fashion show at Eagle’s Trace.
“It was fun,” Wilson says. “The second walk-through was easier than the first.”
Recently, Wilson and ten other residents of Eagle’s Trace modeled clothes from Stein Mart for about 100 guests. A catwalk was installed just for the show in the Garden Room where audience members had lunch before the show.
“I enjoyed it and saw some nice clothes,” says Sue Gordon, a resident of nearby Missouri City who is on the Priority List to move to Eagle’s Trace.
Eagle’s Trace staff organized the event to raise money for the community’s Benevolent Care Fund, a financial safety net for residents, ensuring that anyone who moves into the community will never be asked to move out if unforeseen medical or life events deplete their financial resources, says Pamela Burgeson, director of marketing and sales.
Events like the fashion show are just one of the many ways residents at Eagle’s Trace enjoy trying new things.
“I participate in as many activities as I can,” Wilson says.
Continuous learning
Community members like Wilson don’t have to look far to find a wide range of pursuits and interests to try.
“It’s part of Erickson’s commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles,” says DyAnne Wilson, the community services manager at Eagle’s Trace. She adds that most of the time she doesn’t have to look far to find volunteers to lead or teach different classes or events.
“A lot of the residents are coming here with gifts and talents,” she says. “These people are a wealth of knowledge.”
