HOUSTON, TX – Fourteen people from Eagle’s Trace won medals in the Houston Senior Olympics, which ran March 22 through April 1. Twenty-four people who live at Eagle’s Trace competed in this year’s events – 14 walkers, six golfers, two swimmers, two tennis players, one table tennis player, and one poker player.
Those from Eagle’s Trace who participated brought home 19 medals in all – eight gold (tennis, golf, swimming, the two-mile walk, and washers); seven silver (swimming, tennis, two-mile walk, and badminton); and four bronze (golf, the two-mile walk, and table tennis).
“We were impressed to have more than 20 people sign up to participate this year because last year we only had one,” said Claudia Alcocer, fitness specialist at Eagle’s Trace. “Now that everyone is hearing about it and a few residents have earned medals, people are getting more motivated and want to be part of it. Next year will be even bigger and better.”
Alcocer adds that this Wednesday, April 11, Eagle’s Trace is holding a celebration party to acknowledge all the people who won medals and participated in the games, as well as to motivate other people to sign up to take part next year.
Eagle’s Trace was a sponsor of this year’s Senior Olympics golf tournament.
