THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

With crime rates on the rise all over Houston, home security is a hot topic of conversation. But residents of Eagle’s Trace can afford to rest easy, thanks to a multi-faceted security system that makes personal safety a top priority. Going far beyond protection from muggers, vandals, and burglars, Eagle’s Trace features round-the-clock monitoring for fires, emergency situations, home safety assistance, and much more.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe at home, at every hour of the day and night. Residents at Eagle’s Trace enjoy a feeling of calm and security, as they go through their busy days,” says Mark Batterson, security manager for Eagle’s Trace.

“It’s a comfort to be able to sit out on the patio as the sun sets, or take a moonlight walk around the lake, and never have cause for concern,” Batterson continues. “And, it’s reassuring to know that even if you’re thousands of miles away on a cruise ship off the coast of Alaska, your home is being carefully looked after.”

To help you understand more about the extraordinary measures Batterson and his staff take to ensure complete peace of mind at Eagle’s Trace, Mark answers some of the questions he is frequently asked by those interested in the Erickson lifestyle.

Q. Where does Eagle’s Trace security begin?

A. At Eagle’s Trace, security starts at the front gate. Our front-gate guards, who are on duty 24/7/365, are always welcoming, but they are also very watchful. No visitor is allowed to enter the campus without stopping first at the front gate to make sure they have a legitimate reason to be on the campus.

Q. In addition to the front-gate guard, are there additional security officers on duty on campus?

A. Absolutely. At all times, around the clock, primary security officers are on site, including the front-gate guard and officers who patrol the property.

Every member of the security staff, which number about 13 in all, is background checked, trained to the highest standards on the latest security techniques, and carefully supervised by experienced administrative officers.

The officers spend their days and nights on patrol. Regular outdoor tours are made of the grounds at least once every hour, including all the paths, parking areas, and outside amenities. They are always on the lookout for illegally parked cars or anything else that might indicate unusual activities, as well as residents who might need assistance, or may be experiencing some other sort of difficulty.

Likewise, on the interior, a security officer patrols the walkways, corridors, elevators, and stairways to be certain they are clear of potentially hazardous situations.

Q. Do the on-site security officers have other duties?

A. Eagle’s Trace’s security officers primary role is to patrol and monitor the campus to ensure compliance with Erickson security procedures.

But keeping people safe goes beyond watching out for bad guys. All members of the security force are also cross-trained as medical first-responders, with regular updates on CPR and first-aid.

So, should an emergency arise such as an accident or illness, expert help is always just a heartbeat away. Our security personnel are all trained to assess the situation, and then render appropriate aid.

With the help of the Centricity electronic medical records system, Dr. Patel can safely advise the first-responder of any medications or conditions that may require special treatment.

If the situation is too serious for treatment at the Eagle’s Trace Medical Center, the team supports and monitors the patient until they are safely on their way to the emergency room.

Q. What other safeguards are built into the campus.

A. Buildings and apartments are equipped with smoke detectors that undergo regular testing and inspections. Additionally, there are fire extinguishers in all hallways, and residents are encouraged to have a personal fire extinguisher in their homes. Fire extinguishers and fire doors are inspected every month.

Likewise, automatic fire sprinklers are present in all common areas of the buildings, and every apartment home, including the attics.

Each apartment home also has an emergency call system for use in case of a medical emergency. So if a resident has an accident, feels ill, or is just uneasy about something, expert assistance can be there in minutes.
