“We were ready for this type of lifestyle,” says Bill McNatt, who along with wife Pat moved in earlier this year. “Probably the most important thing that we have found is the elevators, and equally important are the enclosed walkways providing air conditioning and comfort between all destinations. We take the elevator down, and then down the walkways for our meals, for our banking, for the Medical Center, for the Fitness Center.”
Residents also enjoy the great outdoors, especially the fully landscaped grounds that feature trails meandering beside the 8.5- acre Lake Aquila.
Lose the Tool Kit
“Maintenance-free living is the only way to go—I’m here to tell you,” says Pat Welbourn. “My honey-do projects can go to somebody else’s honey now. This guy [indicating her husband Ed] is getting off a lot easier.”
Laughs her husband Ed: “This honey feels real good about it because the jobs that are lined up for me to do, I can usually find an expert to come and do them.”
“Which means,” says Pat, “he can spend more time on the golf course.”
“If she says something needs to be repaired, I pick up the phone and call,” says Ed. “That’s all we need to do.”
Find New Friends
“You really don’t meet a stranger here. Someone might be a stranger for just a little while, but before you know it, you know their names, you’re able to visit with them,” says Bill.
“And, the staff is very friendly,” adds his wife Pat. “Everyone has a smile on their faces, which is wonderful.”
“The people, both the staff and residents, are what makes this a unique and wonderful experience for me,” says Dorothy Davison. “I lived in my home in Houston for 32 years, and I’m willing to bet that I got to know more people in six months here than I did in all the years I lived in my old neighborhood.”
“I have so much fun that I’m worn out having fun here. In ddition to the clubs, I do play games,” says Donna Craig. I find that the field trips we take are very appealing. I usually go to two or three of those every month.”
On-Site Services
“The Medical Center being on site has been outstanding,” says Bill. “Both Pat and I have signed on with Dr. Patel as our primary care doctor. We like the convenience. We like the efficiency. You don’t have to leave for a doctor’s appointment until fiveminutes before.”
Tucked in Behind the Gate
As an enclosed community that features 24-hour guard-gated security, Eagle’s Trace has been able to provide peace of mind for residents.
“The security here at Eagle’s Trace is fantastic,” says Mary Gasson. “I was getting afraid where I was living, and I’m not here. I can go out at night and babysit my grandkids in Katy and when I come home I feel safe.”
Dollars and Sense
Residents of Eagle’s Trace enjoy a life free from worry about price spikes. Their monthly bills are covered by one consistently affordable service package fee that covers all the essentials: electricity, gas, water, trash pick-up, property taxes and insurance, and more.
“I wondered about the value of living at Eagle’s Trace, but since we’ve been here for seven months now, I’m finding that it really is less than we paid when we were maintaining a home,” says Pat. “I think the happiest day of my life in 2005 was the day I did not write my property tax checks.”
Erickson’s 100% Refundable Entrance Deposit is another unique feature that Eagle’s Trace residents often mention as one of the community’s biggest benefits.
“The 100% Refundable Entrance Deposit was very important in our decision,” says Bill. “When you sit down and analyze it, your money is protected. You’re getting it all back. In all, we’re very satisfied with the economics, with the financial mechanics of Eagle’s Trace.”
