BALTIMORE, MD – More than $8,400 was raised by the residents and staff of Charlestown and Oak Crest on Daffodil Day. The annual March fundraiser for the American Cancer Society offered a bundle of 10 daffodils or a miniature daffodil plant for a donation of $10.

“For many years, the generosity of Charlestown staff and residents has supported Daffodil Day. We look forward to this fundraiser as a way to support the American Cancer Society, especially since many of us have first hand experiences of family and friends fighting the battle against the disease,” said Suzanne Dillman, Charlestown resident services manager.

For more than 30 years, Daffodil Days have helped raise funds to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to eliminate cancer as a life threatening disease by offering daffodils to donors in appreciation of their contributions. Daffodil contributions to the society help fund groundbreaking cancer research, provide up-to-date cancer information and education, advocate for public policies that benefit the community, and provide services that improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

“The residents of Oak Crest look forward to Daffodil Day every year. It gives us an opportunity to support the American Cancer Society and celebrate the start of spring with the beautiful flowers,” said Irma Seitz, coordinator of Daffodil Days at Oak Crest. (Jane Powell)
