CATONSVILLE, MD - Charlestown’s 18th annual gala raised more than $140,000 to benefit the Benevolent Care Fund. More than 600 guests experienced the sights and sounds of “Splash,” the underwater realm of King Neptune.

“The annual gala is always the biggest event of the year for Charlestown residents and helps ensure the continuing success of the Benevolent Care Fund,” says Penny Luckert, gift planning manager. “The tireless efforts of staff members and continued support of residents made for a truly memorable evening and allowed us to raise over $140,000 for the fund.”

Guests entered the underwater realm of Splash by “jumping off” a pier into Neptune’s kingdom as they entered Cross Creek Station. As they swam into the magical undersea world, they arrived at the Chesapeake Dining Room, where they had the opportunity to sample delicacies from the sea and an open bar. GAZZE, one of the East coast’s finest bands, provided the musical entertainment. Also on hand was magician Bill Gross and caricature group, BigHeads, LittlePeople.

As guests continued their underwater journey, they reach a small island in the Shortline Café, where they could dine on shellfish and enjoy a chocolate fountain. Caribbean Cocktail, a lively steel band added to the atmosphere.

A pre-event reception honored significant contributions from Erickson Retirement Communities, LLC; Our Lady of the Angels Community; St. Agnes Hospital; Carpet Fashions, Inc.; and the Charlestown Treasure Sale volunteers.

Significant contributions were also acknowledged to Northwest Electric, Inc; Baltimore Ultrasound Services, Inc.; Future Health Corporation; Express Scripts; and St. Agnes Health Care.

At Charlestown, as well as other Erickson campuses across the United States, residents are offered a “home for life.” Proceeds from the gala benefit the Benevolent Care Fund; a fund set up to support residents who, despite careful planning, outlive their financial resources. The fund enables residents to remain at Charlestown, knowing they will always receive the care they deserve. (Jane Powell)
