Whether You’re Staying or Going, Charlestown and Oak Crest Are Perfect for the Holidays

There are two types of holiday people—the type that travel about visiting friends and families, and the type that stay home, entertaining their guests. No matter which one you are, Charlestown and Oak Crest are the perfect place to be.

For those that travel for extended periods of time during the holidays, Charlestown and Oak Crest offer the ultimate in ease and convenience. When you’re ready to go, you just lock the door and leave without a care in the world. No having to worry about your pipes freezing, your mail piling up, if your driveway will get shoveled, or your house getting broken into. Those things don’t happen at Charlestown and Oak Crest.

“We travel every year for the holidays,” says Nancy Bolton of Oak Crest.

“We have three daughters, one in Vermont, one in Pennsylvania, and one in Oregon. Every year we visit one of them for the holidays. We’re not sure where we are headed to this year yet,” she says.

“It’s very convenient. We don’t worry about a thing while we’re gone. We just stop the mail and ask a neighbor to water our plants and we’re off. One of the reasons we chose Oak Crest is because it’s so close to a major airport [BWI]. We can literally travel anywhere we want to go,” she says.

Like a Holiday Resort
Charlestown and Oak Crest are also the perfect place for holiday gettogethers, large or small. With the all-season Aquatics Center, hot tub, game room, and creative arts studio, Charlestown and Oak Crest are sure to have something for everyone, and it’s accessible to the whole family.

Catered Dining Service
Even if your family is large, you can still bring them to Charlestown and Oak Crest. The campus offers a private dining room where you can host guests for any event. Instead of preparing food and doing the dishes, you can spend time chatting and catching up with friends and family.

“We’re having the family over for Christmas again this year,” says Louis Franceschini of Oak Crest. “This is the ninth year we’ve had Christmas here. We have about 60 people come from all over the place—California, Alaska, Alabama, Africa, Rome. We all celebrate in the Garden Room and the catering department does all the cooking. It’s really relaxing and I enjoy seeing the whole family. Everyone really looks forward to it,” he says.

Charlestown and Oak Crest also offer a choice of on-site restaurants—four or more unique venues that are open the entire holiday season—so you can bring your entire family!

“We have eight children, so there’s always somewhere to go for the holidays,” says Madelon Hudson of Charlestown. “Our kids are located all over the place from West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland, to Florida, New Jersey, and Michigan. Last year we went to Michigan, and this year we’re staying local and celebrating. We’ve been here at Charlestown for twelve years and we like being home for the holidays. We always decorate the apartment, put up a tree, and they do an excellent job of decorating the entire community.

We also have a family tradition where we all get together and have a cookie decorating festival. I’m so happy that our children have carried on many of our family traditions,” she says.

Whether you prefer to travel or plan to stay at home, find out how Charlestown and Oak Crest can make your holidays less hectic and more enjoyable.
