Charlestown and Oak Crest are filled with more than 4,000 people just like you—accomplished, interesting, and involved. Each of these unique individuals brings their experiences and passions to these Erickson communities, resulting in the inspiring, dynamic communities they are today.

Here’s an introduction to just a few of the 4,000 unique individuals that could be your new neighbors…

Mary Jackson

Moved to Oak Crest from: Cockeysville

Hobbies: Mary uses the Fitness Center, takes a water aerobics class, and is active in Bible study.

Their home: Extra-Large One-bedroom, One-bath.

“We (Mary and her husband Robert) had a threestory home and this is so much easier to take care of. We brought exactly everything we wanted to. We enjoy sitting on our balcony; it really makes our home feel open and airy.”

How did you hear about Oak Crest?

“We attended several luncheons and had visited the community before with friends and immediately thought it was a great place to live.”

How does Oak Crest make life easier?

“Everything is very convenient. We eat at the Oak Room (restaurant), use the bank, and we even switched our doctor when we moved in. Now we use the Medical Center here. Living here has also simplified my life because I don’t have to cook or wash dishes.”

What do you enjoy most about living at Oak Crest?

“The freedom of having everything on one level. The people are all very friendly and the grounds here are absolutely beautiful.”

Louise Cullen

Moved to Charlestown from: Catonsville

Hobbies: Louise square dances (four times a month), exercises in Charlestown’s Fitness Center, sings in her church choir, and is a member of the Charlestown archives committee.

Her home: Extra-Large One-bedroom, One-bath.

“I love my apartment! All my furniture fits perfectly. I have a balcony that overlooks the swimming pool and courtyard and I’m on the sunny side of the building so I get a lot of natural light. I feel so comfortable here.”

How is living here convenient?

“I can walk down the hall, get a book, get a movie, eat in the restaurants, anything I need is right here.”

What do you want people to know about Charlestown?

“The neat thing about living here is that you’re free to do what you want. And you don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to. Maintenance takes care of all the grounds. They shovel the walks, mow the grass, and you get to enjoy it. Somebody else does all the cooking. You can even have someone clean your apartment for you.”

Advice for people considering moving to Charlestown:

“I would tell people who are worried about moving to Charlestown and not knowing anyone—not to worry. It’s easy to meet people here. You just walk down the hall and people are so friendly and say hi to you. And if you’re worried about moving all of your stuff— don’t. Once you go through all your things you’ll be surprised at how much stuff you don’t use or need.”

How does living at Charlestown make you feel secure?

“I come into my apartment at night and I don’t need an alarm system or fear for my safety. I don’t wake up in the middle of the night and think, ‘what was that sound?’ I feel really secure.”
