Donald and Gloria Resch & Carl and Doris Sunkle

Charlestown and Oak Crest are filled with more than 4,000 people just like you—accomplished, interesting, and involved. Each of these unique individuals brings their experiences and passions to these Erickson communities, resulting in the inspiring, dynamic communities they are today.

Here’s an introduction to just a few of the 4,000 unique individuals that could be your new neighbors …

Name: Donald and Gloria Resch

Moved to Oak Crest from: Parkville/Carney

Retired from: Donald worked for the Army as the Technical Director of Testing at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Gloria stayed at home and raised their two sons.

Hobbies and interests: Both Donald and Gloria enjoy ballroom dancing, volunteering with the Treasure Chest, and needlework. Donald also enjoys reading and Gloria has recently taken up beadwork.

What do you love most about your new home? “We have a Kingston floor plan and I just love the layout. It’s easy to clean and we love sitting out on the balcony to read and have coffee.” (Gloria)

What attracted you to Oak Crest? “We didn’t want to be a burden to our kids.  By moving here now, we can enjoy all of the things Oak Crest has to offer and we also know that we’ll be care for if something should happen in the future.” (Gloria)

Advice for people considering moving to Oak Crest: “Put your deposit down now and get on the Priority List. That way you can enjoy everything Oak Crest offers, because you never know what tomorrow will bring.” (Gloria)

Moved to Charlestown from: Baltimore natives, Carl and Doris retired to Frisco, Cape Hatteras, on the Other Banks of North Carolina where they lived for 15 years before moving to Charlestown

Retired from: Carl was chief structural steel estimator at Bethlehem Steel for 31 years. Doris was a night supervisor nurse at Johns Hopkins for 27 ½ years.

Hobbies and interests: Carl is a member of the stamp club, model railroad club, and volunteers at the Treasure Sales. Doris enjoys volunteering with the Treasure Sales and with Charlestown’s Helping Youth at Risk Program which provides lunches for inner city school children. Both Carl and Doris love shuffleboard and traveling and just returned from their 24th cruise to the Caribbean.

Their home: A two-bedroom, one-bath apartment. “We love our apartment! It’s very spacious and we have a good view of the beautiful nature trail and we’re surrounded by beautiful trees.” (Doris)

Describe what dining at Charlestown is like: “It’s excellent! We have a wonderful variety with all of the restaurants here on campus. You can always find something to satisfy you.” (Doris)

What do you want people to know about Charlestown? “Everything is here!  I honestly can’t name one thing they forgot when they built Charlestown. It was very carefully planned, they really thought of everything. I also appreciate the friendliness of the people who live and work here. We are surrounded by positive people.” (Carl)
