Concierge approach takes obstacles out of equation

Erickson Retirement Communities chose Cedar Crest as one of four communities to introduce its newest innovation—Erickson Realty and Moving Services (ERMS).

The new service will provide anyone moving to Cedar Crest with a personal moving consultant, move-in coordinators, and a vast array of resources to facilitate a smooth, quick, and successful transition.

When Rosemary Herbert recently moved to a home in Cedar Crest’s newest and final building, Forest Glen, she said the service made her experience better than she could have ever expected.

“They have been helpful, accommodating, and pleasant in getting me ready to move,” she says. “We got so much accomplished in just one day.”

Breaking barriers of moving
ERMS covers everything from staging and selling people’s houses or condos to arranging a home inspection, appraisal, and market analysis to providing “white glove” service for packing and unpacking.

“We want to get personal with people—to find out what obstacles they are facing and help eliminate them,” says Move In Program Manager Sharon Baksa, who spearheads the program. “You don’t know what the underlying factors are in their home until you get involved.”

Although not all personal moving consultants and move-in coordinators are also real estate agents, they help their clients find and choose the best agent for them.

ERMS also suggests approved and preferred vendors that can offer better deals and higher quality on landscaping, painting, or other services that may help sell a home faster and for a higher price.

Moving home
When Herbert considered moving to Cedar Crest, she worried about being able to garden in her new home. But Move-in Coordinator Rona Olechnowich helped her eliminate that fear.

“I’m a farm girl at heart and do a lot of gardening,” Herbert says. “So when I originally wanted a studio apartment, Rona suggested a home with a patio so I could garden. I’m looking forward to it because I think it’ll help me get settled quickly and feel at home.”

More than material support
Baksa says all personal moving consultants provide emotional support in addition to taking care of the material actions necessary to sell a house and settle in at Cedar Crest.

“We are their coach,” Baksa says. “We support them as a trusted person and expert who helps them during this exciting time.

“And when people move, the most common comment we hear is, ‘My only regret is that I wish I had done this sooner,’” she adds.
