Final building to open this month

This month Cedar Crest, in Pompton Plains, unveils final building, Forest Glen and completes its master plan.

“This is it,” says Marketing Director Ray Guarino. “Once we sell all the units in this last building, we have no more new apartments to sell.” He says the sales office averages 30 settlements a month, which means the new buildings are filling up fast.

“The projected wait, from what we’ve seen at other communities like Seabrook, would be about two or three years. It could be more if someone is looking for a specific model home,” Guarino says.

‘… we knew it was right …’
Alfred and Louis Zenker started looking for a place to move about six months ago and joined the Priority List at Cedar Crest. They chose a two bedroom, two bath home in Forest Glen and will move there in mid-August.

“If someone isn’t 62 yet or the apartment they want isn’t available, the Priority List reserves their space,” Guarino says. At press time, the Cedar Crest Priority List held 649 people. Of that total, 199 had reserved a home at Cedar Crest, meaning 450 people could move into open inventory, according to Guarino.

When the Zenkers were ready, they sold their house in Emerson in just one day—for significantly more than the asking price. “When we found Cedar Crest, we knew it was right because we liked the way the people operated. Everybody was pleasant, and we liked the homes,” Alfred Zenker says.

Moving home
The community’s three clubhouses and 12 residence buildings encompass more than 50 acres of the entire 130-acre site.

Each clubhouse supplies everything from restaurants, salon and day spas, and classrooms to an in-house TV studio, fitness center, aquatics center, and even a wood shop. The residence buildings house apartments in a variety of sizes and styles to suit everyone’s needs.

Cedar Crest takes advantage of its forest and the mountainside views for which it was named. All homes have large, windows that fill the space with light, and many overlook the Wanaque Reservoir. Several have either a patio or a balcony to grow plants or attract songbirds.

In the months before their move, the Zenkers worked with Design Coordinator Heather Thomson, of Cedar Crest’s Custom Interiors. She helps almost everyone moving to Cedar Crest decorate, design, and personalize their new home.

“We made some alterations with lighting fixtures and closed off one doorway,” Zenker says. He adds that he and his wife are eager to make the move and join the community.

Bustling with activity
“I hope to join some activities when we move to Cedar Crest,” he says.

Cedar Crest has always played a large part in the surrounding community, with 140 clubs and activities. Some groups remain on-site, while others travel, volunteer locally, or participate in area organizations.

One of the most outstanding contributions the community has made to Pequannock Township has been the generation of a large voting bloc with its own polling station on-site, says Executive Director Chip Warner. The community will form a second district with the completion of its final neighborhood.

“With more people moving to Forest Glen, the number and variety of opportunities will undoubtedly grow,” Guarino says.
