“Originally I was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. That shows you how far back I go! Now I like the Mets. I’m a National League fan basically. Do I harbor any ill feelings toward the Yankees? No—only that I like to see them lose! Actually, not really. I’m in favor of most New York teams, regardless of who they are, until it comes to a contest between two of them. Then I choose a side.”

“Well, I’m a Yankees fan. I was born in Brooklyn, so I would be a Dodgers or Yankees fan. But when the Dodgers moved out, I became a Yankees fan. The Mets weren’t around yet. But to tell the truth, I don’t follow baseball a lot until the playoffs. Then all of a sudden you’re watching the series, and you learn the names of the players—even the players on other teams like the Boston Red Sox, Baltimore, whoever they’re playing. And you realize that there are good players today, even though they may not be as familiar to me as Pee Wee Reese or Roy Campanella."
