THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

The long awaited opening of Cedar Crest’s third and final clubhouse, Woodland Commons, is finally taking place this month—and excitement throughout the community is running high.

“People here at Cedar Crest are very intrigued by all they’ve heard about the new clubhouse,” says David Way, who represents his fellow community members on the Resident Advisory Council. “I can’t wait for it to open myself!”

Doors Open Right After Labor Day

The Woodland Commons Clubhouse officially opens its doors on September 5, the day after Labor Day. Although its two new restaurants, the Salon and Day Spa, Lakeland bank branch (Cedar Crest’s second), conference center, and other amenities begin operations the following week, the clubhouse will be ready for touring.

“People will be able to come in and look around,” says Ray Guarino, Cedar Crest’s director of marketing. “We’re looking forward to taking our visitors through this impressive facility, as well as the apartment homes that are just a short walk away.”

Tours are also being planned for current community members. As with Cedar Crest’s two other clubhouses, Woodland Commons and all its amenities can be utilized and enjoyed by everyone living on the 130-acre campus.

Two New Restaurants

According to David, many at Cedar Crest are looking forward to having two new restaurant choices—for a total of five campus-wide. “I think that is probably the most important thing to the community,” he says.

The Overlook restaurant offers full-service seated dining. Its tempting menus change daily and include such chef specialties as roast leg of lamb with mint jelly, teriyaki glazed mahi mahi, and braised chicken with tomatoes, mushrooms, and white wine. Savory soups, salads, and a variety of vegetable side dishes are also offered, along with an enticing selection of desserts.

The Seasons Grille is Woodland Commons’ other restaurant. It offers a casual, bistro-type setting where people can people can grab a bite and beverage, catch the news or sports on TV, and maybe shoot some pool with friends in the billiards area. Its casual lunch and dinner fare includes ovenbaked pizza, burgers, sandwiches, soups salads, and daily specials. “I think it will be an interesting addition in terms of eating and socializing,” says David.

Other New Attractions

Haircuts for men and women as well as styles, perms, and manicures are also available at Woodland Commons, as they are in every Cedar Crest clubhouse. But at the new Salon and Day Spa, the pampering doesn’t stop there. You can also get a pedicure, foot massage, skin treatment, and full body massage.

The new conference center is also a welcome addition to Cedar Crest’s array of amenities. “People are looking forward to having a larger facility for events,” says Bob Krause, who serves as resident trustee on the Cedar Crest Board of Directors. With its seating for 400, Marge Wyngaarden, founder of Cedar Crest’s Institute for Learning in Retirement already has her eyes on the center. “We’ll probably be using it for our large classes and seminars,” she says.

More Amenities

Woodland Commons also features a music classroom, a creative arts studio, card room, and a fully equipped exercise room. These popular amenities are built for community enjoyment in every Cedar Crest clubhouse.

In addition, it has a catering room for private affairs and a Lakeland Bank branch—Cedar Crest’s second— offering full banking and ATM services.

Nestled alongside a serene nature preserve, Woodland Commons has unique views and is easily accessible to other buildings on campus through enclosed, climatecontrolled walkways.

“Woodland Commons and all its amenities really complete Cedar Crest,” says Ray. “No other community in New Jersey offers so much. It’s really a remarkable value.”
