Moved from: Queens, N.Y.Marilyn Ringel isn’t one to hesitate when she sees a good thing. And that’s exactly what she saw when she came to look at Cedar Crest.

“My son brought me out from Queens,” she says. “I took one look, spoke to Helen Waldrop, then I excused myself and spoke to some of the people who live here. And I came back and asked my son, ‘Can I afford this?’ He said yes, and I signed.” On her first visit!

“I’m impulsive,” she jokes. “But it worked!”

Marilyn moved to her lovely Fremont one-bedroom home at Cedar Crest’s about 10 months ago and says she’s very happy with her decision.What do you love most about living at Cedar Crest?“If there’s any day here that I’m bored, that’s my own fault. There are so many things going on! Also, the transportation services here are a definite plus.”

What are some of the Cedar Crest activities you’re involved with?

“I go to water exercise twice a week, which I find very satisfying. Tuesday mornings I go out with the Amblers and Scramblers, a hiking group. I also participate in Saturday Night Trivia, and I’ve taken courses in conversational Italian and philosophy. I go to the Socrates Café, which is a discussion group, and other things here and there.”

Tell us about your home.

“I’m one person, so this one-bedroom is just right for me. I have a very large kitchen—which I’m not in often, mind you— but it’s lovely. I have a large  living room/dining room area, my bedroom, and a bathroom. I did have a bath tub installed. I like a tub.
