Over 100 Women Attend Red Hat Society Event

Over 100 women who live at Brooksby Village attended a Red Hat Society chapter event. The ‘Brooksby Belles,’ a group of over 100 women at Brooksby, celebrated their second birthday.

“Two years ago we started with over 50 women and now we have over 100 in our chapter here at Brooksby,” said Lillian Shapiro, Brooksby resident and Queen Mother of the Brooksby chapter. “We assumed some women would be interested, but we had no idea we would have over 100 women sign up to be in the group. We were all very excited about the birthday party.”

Texas Hold ‘Em Has a Hold on Brooksby Village

bbvpoker-sm.jpgSince March of 2005, Brooksby residents have been playing Texas Hold ‘Em, currently the most popular poker game in the world. In Texas Hold ‘Em, each player is dealt two cards down. Bets are placed, then three cards are dealt up which are community cards that everyone uses to make their best hand. Bets are placed again and two more cards are individually dealt up with a round of betting after each, although at Brooksby, it’s really not about the small stakes betting.
