Brooksby’s John Chase has Carved out a Niche for Himself Saturday, April 01, 2006
John Chase moved to Brooksby about four years ago. And on the day he moved he knew it wouldn’t be long before he visited the woodwork and hobby shop. Carving is John’s passion and since he moved to Brooksby, he’s been able to do it a lot more. “No longer having to maintain a house, which took a lot of my time, I can now carve almost every evening. I rough out the carvings in the woodwork and hobby shop. I do the finish carving and painting in my apartment home,” says John.

It started in 2002, when some seventh grade students from the Brookwood School in Manchester-by-the-Sea formed a friendship with several people who live at Brooksby Village. Four years later, the tradition continued with 56 seventh graders visiting their friends at Brooksby.

Brooksby Village Fraternity Nears 200 Members Wednesday, February 01, 2006
The Brooksby Fraternity started from humble beginnings a few years ago with ten members. Now with more than 180 members, the fraternity is filled with fascinating, talented members just waiting to tell their stories.
“The Brooksby Fraternity was founded by Dick Byrne. About ten of us would meet in the Harvest Grill lounge. We’d talk sports and exchange stories—and it started to grow. By the time I took over, it grew to about 135 people and continues to grow,” says Jack Borteck, current president.
