Bill Pfaller, one of 400 veterans living at Brooksby, speaks to a crowd of more than 300 people who came out to see the raising of the American flag on the community’s new flagpole. There was also a plaque, “Dedicated to those who served in war and peace.” The recent event drew veterans’ associations from around the North Shore.

Pfaller, who served 30 years of active duty among three wars, recently  organized an unofficial veterans’ association at Brooksby.
