A craftsman and a music-lover, George Heald moved from Peabody and found that the Brooksby Village lifestyle suited him perfectly. “After I’d been here less than a week I considered this my home,” he says.
Erickson Tribune: Why did you decide to move to Brooksby Village?
George: I liked it for the community aspect of it. As a single man, I thought that the safety and security factor was also terrific.
The location was great for me, and I knew a little bit about Brooksby because my son-in-law’s mother lives here. I knew it was a good place to be.
Tribune: What style apartment do you have, and what do you like about it?
George: The Hawthorne. It has two bedrooms and two baths. I like it very much. I’ve got an apartment with two bedrooms because I made a hobby room out of the second bedroom. I’ve got three workbenches and tools in there, and I plan to build an HO-scale model railroad.
I’m very happy, because I like shipbuilding and I like model trains, and I can do all my hobbies right here.
Tribune: How do you keep yourself busy at Brooksby?
George: I use the woodworking and hobby shop. I built a couple of things when I was furnishing my apartment.
Also, my daughter plays the piano and sings in the Windsor restaurant. I sing with her on Friday nights. We sing for a couple of hours, from 7:30 until 9:30 or so in the lounge next to the Windsor restaurant. And we encourage other people to sing with us.
