Who needs HBO, CNN, or ESPN?

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
At Brooksby Village, TV9 aptly fills the viewing needs of most people living there with a diverse selection of programming, all of which is produced and filmed on campus by community members.
Sarah MacLean has served as Brooksby’s lead television coordinator for the past four years and takes pride in TV9’s progress and development in that time.
“Pretty much everyone at Brooksby who wants to be trained in television programming has been at this point,” MacLean says. “We have about 70 to 75 people living on campus right now who have finished training. What we try to do now is get them as much practice and shoots to keep their training fresh.”
Resident-run
According to MacLean, those who live at Brooksby supply all the manpower and woman power to produce and operate a host of programs designed to provide essential information and entertainment to community members. They host and conduct programs, and also perform vital technical tasks such as operating cameras and handling audio and lighting requirements.
Fall lineup
TV9 offers both regular programming as well as rebroadcasts of special events. Regular programs include The Burning Question? (a current events panel show), Village View (a news magazine show), Living at Brooksby (visits to and tours of residential apartments), Basic Cooking 101 (a cooking program featuring on-campus chefs), RAC Chat (a discussion series featuring Resident Advisory Council members), What Do You Know? (a quiz show), Old Sports Show (a sports-related presentation), and Health Talk (a program highlighting health issues).
According to MacLean, programming is not restricted to Brooksby community members. Staff are regularly featured in Healthy Days (which highlights the activities of the Wellness Department) and Volunteer Talk (which accentuates the various facets of the Volunteer Services Department).
