People who live at Brooksby recently “wove” their way into the hearts of needy local people.

Under the direction of resident Ann Aloisio, the group handmade fleece hats, mittens, and pullovers for local adults and children during the winter months. The donated goods were recently presented to Haven From Hunger, a Peabody-based nonprofit agency that services needy people throughout the North Shore region of Massachusetts.

Trudy MacIntyre, executive director of Haven From Hunger, gratefully accepted the donated goods from the Brooksby group.

Amazing job
“It was getting colder and colder around here, so we were eager to get these items to Haven From Hunger as soon as possible,” says Mary Landry, Brooksby Village’s community resources coordinator. “Ann Aloisio organized the group and presented the finished items. Everyone involved did an amazing job making the fleece items.”

Haven From Hunger was established in 1987 and operates food pantries and related facilities for the benefit of local residents. According to its website, the charity specifically targets single mothers, single fathers, heads of households, older citizens, handicapped people, unemployed people, individuals living on fixed incomes, and the “workingclass poor.”
