How Renaissance Gardens keeps us together

Although his wife of 57 years is in Long-Term Nursing Care, John Daly has no problem visiting Patricia three times every day. Patricia lives at Renaissance Gardens, the extended care neighborhood that is part of John’s community.

"I couldn’t do all three visits if she was off-site, and enjoy the other benefits of living in this community. I visit our children (who are close by) regularly and use the Fitness Center twice a week to maintain my own health," he says.

"The main campus and Renaissance Gardens are connected by an enclosed walkway, so I come whatever the weather. If she was someplace else, I might have to go without my visit during bad weather," he adds.

The music connection
"They have lots of music activities at Renaissance Gardens. And Patricia enjoys the hymns at services here," he says.

Patricia has a private room and half-bath (standard in Long-Term Nursing Care at Renaissance Gardens), so John can bring music to her. "If she was sharing a room, I might not be able to play the Frank Sinatra album she likes and sing to her any time," he adds.

Praise for top notch Staff
Patricia was able to keep the same doctor she had at the community’s on-site Medical Center when the Daly’s first moved in. John also praises the skilled nursing team on duty 24/7. "They know her well, so they can tell when something’s changed and address it. And the aides make sure she’s always bathed and dressed," he says.
