Four artists who live at Brooksby Village recently donated their original works of art to be auctioned off at the North Shore Music Theatre’s Beehive Ball Gala.

$100,000 raised
Nearly 400 people attended the event and approximately $100,000 was raised to benefit the theatre’s award-winning education programs.

Eleanor Jones’ acrylic painting was auctioned for $700; Rose Coffin’s oil painting auctioned for $300; and both Truth Nickerson and Ann Ribbs’ watercolors auctioned for $200 each. "I got teased into it. One of the gals here, Mary Landry, asked me to," says Eleanor. "I’m an artist and I have a lot of paintings."

Painting for 40 years
Eleanor, who has been painting for over 40 years, created a studio inside her apartment at Brooksby. "Some of the money will go toward the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra. My husband was one of the original organizers and manager of that orchestra," says Eleanor. "He was closely associated with it."

The gala featured a silent and live auction, as well as cocktails, dinner, dancing, music, games, and a performance by North Shore Music Theatre’s Youth Performance Choir.
